UoPeople Progress Report

During the period, University of the People, continued to provide access to higher education for students in the US and around the world. It worked to promote lower education costs and helped democratize higher education. To date, over 1500 students from 136 countries have been accepted. UoPeople continued to attact grassroots support- with more people showing their support by joining its Facebook page- and continued to attract media attention- appearing in numourous news articles. It worked on its scholarship system, warding scholarships to deserving students, including several women. It also opened a Micro-Scholarship Portal, where donors can help students in need directly. It also strengthened its academic leadership and top administration, adding new board members and academic personnel to its advisory boards.

UoPeople continued to advocate for the right to education for its students, and its President, Shai Reshef, appeared at a number of conferences and met with key stakeholders, including in Sweden, South Africa, Malawi, the UK and the US. In April he will visit Haiti to promote UoPeople's work with Haitian students and garner further support for the University's efforts to provide access to higher education to Haitians and other students.

First project report

Many of UoPeople's students come from disadvantaged populations such as refugees, immigrants (including undocumented), single mothers, and students whose financial situations leave them unable to afford even community college. A number of its students come from Africa, including survivors of the Rwandan genocide and other regional conflicts, individuals from rural villages, orphans, and women. All of these deserving individuals would lack the ability to receive higher education and an improved future without UoPeople.

Due to the fact that we have not raised any funding for this project, we have, regrettably been unable to provide scholarships to students in need using this platform. We greatly look forward to the success of this campaign and providing access to higher education for 45 students. Please help us to spread the word in order to actualize the success of this campaign.

Although UoPeople has been unable to award scholarships through this project, it has continued to provide access to higher education for students around the world and has continued to attract grassroots support. It has also been positively mentioned in numerous media publications.
