Azerbaijan Campaign to Ban Landmines

The Azerbaijan Campaign to Ban Landmines (AzCBL) is a non-governmental, non-political, non-commercial organization, founded in June 1998 by a coalition of local non-governmental organizations. The AzCBL to work towards a landmine and cluster munitions-free Azerbaijan by promoting Azerbaijan's accession to the Ottawa Convention and Convention on Cluster Munitions and to raise awareness about and attend to the problems created by the presence of landmines and cluster munitions in Azerbaijan.

The AzCBL to work towards a landmine and cluster munitions-free Azerbaijan by promoting Azerbaijan's accession to the Ottawa Convention and Convention on Cluster Munitions and to raise awareness about and attend to the problems created by the presence of landmines and cluster munitions in Azerbaijan.

Programs

to promote the physical, psychological, social, political, and economic reintegration of mine survivors, their families and their communities to promote Azerbaijan's accession to the Ottawa Convention and Convention on Cluster Munitions to protect mine and cluster munitions survivors' rights to ensure the physical and psychological security of individual Azerbaijani citizens, and entire communities to carry out mine awareness campaigns to promote Azerbaijan's participation in the Oslo Process and its eventual accession to comprehensive ban on cluster munitions to research and monitor the landmine and cluster munitions situation in Azerbaijan and allow for public scrutiny of demining process and all mine action activities Activities: supporting landmine and cluster munitions survivors by advocating for and providing support for their physical, psychological, social and economic reintegration promoting public awareness of the landmine and cluster munitions issue through media outreach, seminars and training lobbying government officials, members of parliament and other authorities to act in line with the principles of the Mine Ban Treaty and Convention on Cluster Munitions and work towards Azerbaijan's accession to the treaty researching and monitoring of the landmine/UXO situation in Azerbaijan to acquire exact information regarding the territory were mines and UXO are laid, the number and type of explosives present, the number of new mine/UXO victims and the nature of their needs, and mine action activities undertaken to address the problem building public opinion against landmine and cluster munitions use and in favour of increased support for mine and cluster munitions victims producing publications on the landmine and cluster munitions issue and disseminating regular news bulletins maintaining a library of resources on the landmine and cluster munitions issue developing and maintaining a network with related national and international organizations
