Green Team starts on Tuesday!

National Park Preservers on the river
National Park Preservers on the river

Our newly revamped Green Team program starts on Tuesday!

We are so excited to be able to bring on 18 (yes, that's right 18!) high school students this summer who will focus on three topics: Urban Agriculture, Sustainable Landscaping and Community Planning

Each team is also staffed with a Supervisor and a young Assistant Supervisor (2 of the 3 are past Green Team members!).

Watch out for the bikes, green t-shirts and smiling faces as you are walking through Somerville this summer.

We are also starting our FIRST EVER Mystic River Green Team, supervised by our past National Park Preserver job training team member Joey Baldassari. Watch out for the BRIGHT ORANGE t-shirts on the river as you drive by all summer.

Schoolyard Garden Clubs end this week!

SoilCycle in the Rain!
SoilCycle in the Rain!

Hi folks!

Sorry for the delay in reports - We've been flooded here in Massachusetts!

Regardless of the flooding, our gardens have been thriving! We've been able to rebuild our Kennedy School Garden and create a beautiful walking path as well as a functional and accessible bed. We've been working diligently to create compost bins and raised beds at all of our sites. Our planting has been very successful as we have worked closely with all of our after school garden clubs!

Speaking of the clubs, they end this week! A BIG thank you goes out to all of our amazing teachers, principals, club leaders, volunteers, interns and staff for making this our most successful year yet.

Please check out the website to see just how much fun we've had at our schoolyard gardens.
