Mission

The mission of New Idea for Citizenship is to serve as a development focus for the urban poor living in Makindye Division of Kampala by working too fill their aspirations through education and economic empowerment using multifaceted programs aimed at advancing people's livelihoods.

Programs

Elementary schooling for poor urban children aged 6 - 15 years. New Idea for Citizenship has founded a community school known as Great Valley Children's Center. Currently close to 434 children including 237 girls and 197 boys are enrolled in this school in classes 1 to 7. NifC also carries on community education programs to enable vulnerable vulnerable households to acquire knowledge and skills of self determination. Special focus is paid to women and girls. NifC has organized a savings and loan scheme for the community it serves. The scheme activities are also a forum for social interaction and learning about cross cutting issues such as HIV prevention, the care for children.
