This academic year is a beginning of a new adventure SUKRUPA has embarked with its children of learning, creativity, fun and laughter. SUKRUPA has this year strategized its approach differently towards imparting education in the most refined and multidimensional manner.

Education is the key to empowerment, success and a sustainable form of livelihood. We at SUKRUPA believe that every child irrespective of their caste, creed, culture, sex or socio-economic status deserves an opportunity to experience the best. Hence, ensuring that every child gets the opportunity to pursue what he/she dreams off continues to be our driving force.

  • Increase in the numberof children taking up higher education and skilled employment options.

Activity Report

This quarter we had several activities ranging from volunteer activities, school activities to inter-school activities. The activities were aimed at the overall development of the children.

SUKRUPA started its quarter with welcoming everyone back to school for the academic year 2015-16. After 6 weeks of summer vacation, the students of SUKRUPA were back to their routine of fun learning. It was a warm gathering where all the students, teachers and the staff were looking forward to an exceptional year ahead.

The LKG and Nursery children had a grand welcome reception. A special orientation was also organized for the parents on the importance of their involvement in the child’s physical and emotional development. To mark the occasion Hand prints and Foot prints of the children were taken on separate sheets of paper.

SUKRUPA also had many volunteers visit us and conduct activities for our children. Mrs. Fiona Masterson, and her group of volunteers spent a week with our primary school children teaching them alphabets, music and phonics. Few of the children were also given an introductory class on French. The volunteers divided the children into small groups giving them a more visualized demonstration about the lessons through expressive means.

The Kindergarten children had an exciting and enjoyable time playing with puzzles, molding clay and colouring alphabets. The children were keen and enthusiastic to learn from them.

Our interns, Anupam and Pooja also conducted various activities for the children, one of them being the current affairs session that instilled in the children awareness of what was happening around. Realising the need of the hour, to make children competent in their academics as well as in practical knowledge of the society and things around, The Mega Session was conducted. Prominent news from the months of July and August 2015 were taken as major presentation topics.

SUKRUPA marked the HARITHA Organic Gardening by planting samplings and presenting various programs that bring about environmental awareness. Each child planted a sampling in the form of vertical gardening.

Sukrupa celebrated several international days this quarter, two of which were, “World Environment Day” by making posters and creating environmental awareness in the neighbourhood and the Mandela week by making a difference through a variety of activities celebrating his extraordinary compassion towards human rights and equality. We had an introductory Session on the Life of the Laureate Nelson Mandela by the teacher’s. The teachers, thereafter conducted a quiz competition where the children participated actively.

SUKRUPA participated in the International Music Day Festival called ‘Fête de la Musique’ held at Alliance Française. The children performed from the Bangalore School of Music. The festival of music had participants from various bands, amateur and professional musicians as well as people who enjoy listening to music.

Our Children visited the zoo for a picnic. The children enjoyed the picnic to the Bannerghatta Zoo. They were thrilled to see wildlife at close proximity. It was a day filled with excitement, fun, learning and laughter. The teacher’s from the Primary School assisted the students and the event was followed by Lunch and snacks.

As a part of school activities, SUKRUPA involves its children in alot of creative learning methods, on such activity was conducted for class X students. The Students of Class X enacted a skit from the Mahabharat, The Pandavas on the topic ‘The Enchanted Pool’. The class was dived into 4 groups in order to give each child the opportunity take part in the skit. It was an energetic, enthusiastic, fun and creative historical skit performed by the students. The teachers and the students took time creating the costumes and the choreography.

The class IX students learnt the importance and the uses of Rain Water Harvesting. The Students understood the techniques used for collecting, storing and using rainwater for landscape irrigation and other uses. The students created models and presented in the class to share each ones understanding about the subject.

The First Unit Test for the High School Children was conducted in the second week of July. This year the students are performing better in academics through the multidimensional educational approach SUKRUPA has developed.

Parent’s orientation is very essential in order to let know the development of the child. The Management and the teacher’s at SUKRUPA put forth the importance of parent’s involvement in the social, vocational and emotional development of their children.

We also had the pleasure of having Mr. Dave Shapland from ALD-SG and Mrs. June Shapland be a part of the event and distribute the school supply to the parents.

We Thank Mrs. Theresa Dilley and her family foundation for sponsoring 6 children for the academic year 2015-16. Mrs. Dilley visited us on the 17th of July and interacted with the kids.

The most celebrated event of this quarter was the Celebration of the 69th Indian Independence. Our children had a week long celebration through skits that depicted the freedom struggle to flag hoisting and cultural events on 15th August.

All these events would surely not be possible without the support of our sponsors.

Thank you so much for helping us continue to empower young minds

SUKRUPA - Creating Opportunities (Report May - 2015)

The Power of Education is overwhelming. It develops and enhances the minds of young children into young adults. Education serves as a tool for the society to raise its youth to serve the society. This process has been a never ending cycle since as long as anyone can remember. Children maturing into proper adults has been the goal of the education in the past.

SUKRUPA achieves 100% SSLC board result

We are so excited and beyond thrilled to share the incredible news of our 10th standard students with you today 100% of all Sukrupa Standard 10 students passed their SSLC board exams with flying colors. 70% of the students scored first class marks. This is a testament to the incredible hard work of their teacher, and the time they put into preparing for the exams. Our heartiest congratulations to all the students, their parents and their teachers! We look forward to a great and successful academics year ahead! “Education is a human right” Even Underprivileged children deserve a better education to build a more skilled and productive India.

Self – Care and Hygiene practices

India has a huge adolescent population of 243 million, constituting over 21 per cent of the country’s population. India is yet to meet the Millennium Development Goal 4 (under-5 mortality rate) and MDG 5 (maternal mortality rate). Stages of change in life impacts adolescents’ health and development, health during the adult years and even influences the health and wellbeing of the next generation.

The adolescent period provides a second chance to improve the health and well being of a child in the second decade of his life. SUKRUPA is committed to mainstream the future generation though integrated interventions in the areas of education, empowerment and environment.

Education for adolescents on growth and development of the body is very crucial, SUKRUPA creates an environment where women and girls can articulate their needs—particularly in contexts where there are significant taboos and restrictions, coupled with a lack of accurate information on sexual and reproductive health. The session conducted by Dr.Geetha Patil was very useful and deepened their understanding on the bodily changes in adolescence, need of appropriate self care and hygiene.

Children participation on Annual Day Celebration of ING Vysya

SUKRUPA children attended the Annual Day Program of ING Vysya Foundation at ING House auditorium Bangalore on 11th Feb 2015. Children were given opportunity to showcase their talents as well avenues for games and fun were also provided.  SUKRUPA kids enjoyed all the programs especially the magic show. Thanks to ING Vysya Foundation for the opportunity.

Adobe Youth Voice

SUKRUPA children participated in the Adobe Youth Voices live program conducted on 11th Feb at Chowdiah Memorial Hall. Distinguished guests from USA, officials of AIF, guests and children of 23 schools from Bangalore etc took part in the event. Selected documentaries, animation films and videos were screened. The animation from Karun Kumar’s team name “save sparrow” was mid catching.  The films, documentaries and animations were amazing. Sweet memories of the event stay with us forever.

Summer Camp

Stimulating children’s minds is a great step towards keeping them motivated. Games and activities that can hold their interest keep them focused and provide stimulus to improve the communication and social skills.

Passion for Music

To us, music is a cause, a commitment. It helps to instill discipline, confidence and sense of self-esteem.  Our big thanks to Bangalore School of Music for giving SUKRUPA kids a deeper understanding of music and opportunities to expand their horizons. With the help of Bangalore School of Music children get exposure and training in western classical music, although eastern classical music (Hindustani & Carnatic), a deeper understanding and appreciation of music and also get opportunities to perform in various platforms. To the SUKRUPA children it’s a channel to express emotions, and for many of our students music has become a dream profession too.

Counseling for ParentsAn open house was conducted for students of standard X and their parents with an aim to prepare themselves more effectively for their upcoming final examinations. Most of the parents are first generation learners or school dropouts who cannot contribute substantially in the academic matters of the children. The meeting was a friendly, informational session to guide them and support their children with more appreciation and value. Similar sessions were conducted for all the classes with a view to improve the parent’s involvement in the academic matters and overall development of their children.

"SUKRUPA - Creating opportunities" Fab 2015

Dear Donor,

At first, our heartfelt thanks to all of you for your continued support towards SUKRUPA's cause.

When I see children at SUKRUPA, I wish I could go back to being a kid again. Those Innocent, Worry - free days ! children know how to just be; the difference between then & now is,  we didn’t grow up with these high-end gadgets, but with  just a few Colorful Wooden Toys “Channapatnada Bombe”.  With globalization & changing technologies together with high competition, sometimes I wonder "Is the school system we follow these days provide all that it takes? especially for the kids coming from underprivileged background, where parents do not know to read or write ? It is this constant quest that has helped us to ensure  that the children are provided with a well balanced mix of academics, creativity (through various arts, technology, field trips, sports, games, life skills) and social values. All of these, can enable them to establish themselves to be more responsible and independent to sustain and grow in this dynamic world. It is indeed a huge challenge, daunting us every year. But with the continued encouragement & support from all our friends, volunteers, corporate & individual sponsors & like minded groups who have stood by us at all times, we have been able make a huge difference in the lives of the children.

As the School Year is ending in couple months, Children are preparing for their exams, some of them are writing Board Exams, Teachers are working progressively to bring Great Results!!!

We strive to reach our goal with your continued support. “Tons of Thanks” to each one of you who are part of SUKRUPA in creating great opportunities for all our children.

Executive Director
