826DC

826DC is dedicated to supporting students ages 6-18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Our services are structured around our understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. 826DC was founded in fall 2008, and in late-2009, became affiliated with 826 National, the network of nonprofits co-founded by award-winning author Dave Eggers.

Programs

We provide After-School Tutoring, Field Trips, Evening & Weekend Workshops, In-School Writing support, a Saturday Reading All-Stars program, and student publishing opportunities. All of our programs are challenging and fun, and ultimately strengthen each student's power to express ideas effectively, creatively, confidently, and in his or her individual voice.
