First Hub Rally Reached the Finish Line

The Invitation to the Demo Day Event
The Invitation to the Demo Day Event

We are happy to announce that we have reached the finish line of the first Hub Rally, and on Tuesday June 4th seven excited social entrepreneurs will stand on stage and present the results of their intensive work during the last three months.

The social enterprises which will be presented at the demo day are:

- An innovative real estate project that transforms an old building, during the time it is waiting for demolition, into a magnet for the local community, a 'pop-up' center for arts and social activities

- Product design that respects elderly people. A social design methodology which creates new products that are attractive and useful for "3rd age" population

- Outdoor classroom: leveraging mobile and tablet technology for building a new learning experience focusing on group interaction outdoor

- Using art, on top of a technological platform, to bridge culture gaps among people in remote locations

- Leadership program for students, which makes them pioneers in using and spreading a new discourse about sustainability

- School for families: work on communication inside families, making an innovative use of tools normally targeted at teams in organizations

- The 'neighborhood generator': a new concept for bringing sustainability into all levels of neighborhood life

We wish a lot of success to our entrepreneurs. Stay tuned for our next report where we will reveal the identity of the Hub Rally winner, to be selected this Tuesday.

Hub Rally Launched Today!

Hub Rally team and participants
Hub Rally team and participants

Today (March 3rd) was the first day of the Hub Rally. Eight highly motivated social entrepreneurs met for the first time and started their two months intensive journey. This was made possible by tour generous contribution through globalgiving, and additioan funding by IBM, Dualis - Israel Social Venture Fund and Tel Aviv Municipality.

The different projects cover a wide range of social causes, including dialog between cultures, strengthening the self-identity of the Ethiopian immigrants community, urban revival in less-privileged parts of Tel Aviv, promoting the ideas of pernaculture to the wider population, social cause based design and employment of people with disabilities.

In the 8 weeks to come, the participants in the Rally will go through an internsive process of buidling their business plan, evaluating the social impact of their projects and define how this impact will be measured, and plan the MVP (minimal viable product) that they will launch as a first proof af concept. The program puts a strong emphasis on peer support, buidling a coalition of partners, and investigating the internal strengths and weaknesses of the individual entrepreneurs.

The Hub Rally is carried out as a parnership of Hub Tel Aviv and Minga - the arena for social enterprises.

Hub Rally Update

Based on the donations we received through GlobalGiving, we were able to secure additional budget from the local municipality, and we expect to get additional funding through sponsorship from a leading global technology company. Using all these sources of funding we will be able to launch the Hub Rally in Q1 2013. It will be, as planned, an 8 weeks intense program with 8-10 participants.

Right now we are working on the details of the content and the marketing materials in order to attract the right people to the program. In our next report we will publish the program's logo, and we will update you about the exact dates of the Rally and the recruiting status.

An anonymous donor will match all new monthly recurring donations, but only if 75% of donors upgrade to a recurring donation today.
