Hello dear AfricAid supporters,
We're very grateful to have your support to help supply secondary school scholarships for girls in Tanzania. This is so critically needed as only about 5% of girls in Tanzania graduate from secondary school and just one year of secondary school boosts girls' eventual wages by 20%.
As we move forward into 2012, we're securing partnerships with more and more secondary schools in the Arusha area and will have 4 new schools signed-up by the end of March. This will enable us to reach even more girls with scholarship assistance.
We're so grateful for your support. Asante sana! (thank you)
Happy 2012 to you! Thank you so much for your generous support of AfricAid and our Kisa Program in Tanzania to uplift young African women out of poverty through education.
Your support means a great deal to us. We have big plans for the Kisa Program in 2012. We are welcoming 120 new scholars in April, which is our biggest class ever! Also, our first Kisa class graduates in February and we're very proud of their accomplishments to date and can't wait to watch as they move on to university and rewarding careers.
You have made all of this possible. We're truly grateful and wish you all the best in 2012.
Hello to our wonderful AfricAid supporters,
I am so happy to write this update upon arriving in the U.S. after spending 2 weeks in Tanzania in May and June. It was amazing to witness our programs first-hand and to see them working and making a difference in girls' lives.
I saw how critical computer labs are to children in Tanzania. I saw 2 labs that AfricAid had recently installed. These labs give the students a valuable connection to the outside world and skills required to obtain a job upon graduation. The young Tanzanian students I met were confident, bright, articulate and had a vision for their future and the future of their community. With some basic skills and computer proficiency, it is amazing how these students blossom and slowly, one-by-one, help to transform the cycle of poverty in their community.
Thank you very much for your generous support. We are committed to ensuring it goes directly to computer labs and spent wisely.
