Programs

Through healthy food, affordable clothing and quality education, Martha's Table works with individuals and families to build a better future. Our core programs: --Our EDUCATION PROGRAM prepares young people for life by providing a continuum of high quality educational opportunities from infancy to adulthood that support their academic, social, physical, and emotional development and ensures that they are ready to start school, succeed in school and graduate from high school and college. This year, our early childhood program will serve 120 children (12 weeks-4 years old) and our extended day academic and enrichment program will serve 120 youth and young adults (5-24 years old). --Our FOOD & NUTRITION PROGRAM reduces hunger and improves wellness by providing access to healthy food and nutrition education that meets each individual's immediate needs and promotes healthy lifestyles. During the next year, we are focused on reducing child hunger, increasing vulnerable populations' access to healthier foods and grocery choices and learning more about nutrition and hunger challenges from our parents and families in preparation for increasing our organizational impact on hunger and nutrition in the years to come. Our food and nutrition programs currently touch 1,100 children, neighbors and residents every day through 11 distribution locations. All parents and clients now choose the groceries they need for their families from our "market" and will have healthier food options. Martha's Table will also use our food distribution locations as an opportunity to connect our families and clients to social services (medical/dental screenings, SNAP/WIC registration, social services referrals, etc.) --Our NEIGHBORHOOD THRIFT STORES, now on 14th Street and in Anacostia, ease the economic burden on low-income households and generate revenue for our programs. Martha's Outfitters provided free clothing and housewares to 3,500 people last year referred by our community partners.
