Overcoming the burden of infectious diseases in Africa by creating innovative health models, building centers of excellence, and strengthening medical institutions.
In response to the growing needs of youth and young adults, the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), Accordia Global Health Foundation's flagship program, established one of the first transition clinics in the African region. With over 800 registered and active clients, the transition clinic is currently one of the care models that IDI has developed within the context of sharing best practices in the African region. The clinic offers care consultations and social support mechanisms that are mostly peer-led. As a result of the services of the TC, more youth and young adults at IDI are in good health. This has led to the emergence of other needs and opportunities within this vulnerable population. Key among these is the need for these youth and young adults to continue educational and career development programs.
