Sankhuwasabha Education Scholarship Foundation (SESF) is a registered non-profit social organization established in Khandbari in Sankhuwasabha District of Eastern Nepal on June 4, 1997 by the residents of Khandbari. The organization was established with some economic support of a United States Peace Corps volunteer Mrs. Alyssa Nyberg SESF exists to provide educational opportunity to all needy children who are deprived of obtaining educational opportunity for various reasons
SESF Current Project a. SESF Individual Sponsorship program SESF has designed a child sponsorship program with the vision that the contribution of money and supplies can benefit and even change the lives of many poor and needy children of their community. Donors can select a child to sponsor through SESF. The sponsored children receive education at a private English boarding school as well as the government school: They receive money for school dress, school monthly fees, school stationery, medical treatment etc. b. Orphanage support program: SESF has been supporting Khandbari orphanage for two years. Now there are 10 children five boys and five girls from 8 to 15 years. They are being cared by a 40 years old cook mother. All the children have been going to four different private boarding schools of Khandbari area. Last year a volunteer from Slovenia came to help the children. She showed us how to organize an orphanage in a better way. She helped the children in doing home work and also involved then in other extra curricular activities. Her stay at the orphanage has left a very good positive effect on the children. Makalu Arun Social Trek (MAST) MAST is a registered, government licensed nonprofit distributing trekking company established in Khandbari in Sankhuwasabha District of Eastern Nepal by Sankhuwasabha Education Scholarship Foundation(SESF). MAST exists to promote sustainable tourism business that creates job in the rural community and generates economic benefit for SESF child education program and Khandbari orphanage program. MAST organizes, coordinates and facilitates the overall trekking and volunteering activities for the guests from Kathmandu to Makalu and Arun Valley region of eastern Nepal.
