Mass Awareness and Social Action Programme: Lok Samiti (People's Organization): Lok Samiti was conceived by Lok Nayak J.P. Narayan in 1977 with the dream of creating a just society. This dream can't be realized until & unless people become active. Thus, Lok Samiti is the platform for the people to organize & raise their voice. It takes up several issues, such as - Putting people's grievances in front of concerned authorities. Drawing govt. attention for proper implementation of developmental schemes. Influencing the policy makers to make it pro-poor. Pressurizing the concerned authorities for transparency. Demanding equal status for women. Fighting against atrocities on women and dalits. Manav Jodo Abhiyan- promoting inter-caste/inter-religion/ love marriages without dowry based on gender equity. Family Counseling Center-to resolve family disputes. Panchayat election and promotion of women candidate D. Socio economic Program: It aims at helping poor women/men, improve the socio economic condition of themselves, their family and their village through group formation, training, and loan provided by NBJK or by bank linkages facilitated by NBJK. The initial task is building of women's organization, viz. Women's Self-Help Group, Joint liability groups which in due course attains sustainability with regular support & guidance and gets linked to People's Organization- Lok Samiti. The program has a three-pronged strategy. The first is building up of Self-Help Groups, Joint liability group, farmers association etc. The second is to capacitate them to act & become a part of the development process. The third is financial enabling process to create economic opportunity for them through some Income Generating Activities and agriculture development. The program aims at economic growth & self-reliance. Specific objectives of the program are: To create self-employment through income generating projects and agriculture development.
