Mission

Our mission is to change culture from the inside out through person-to-person sponsoring and educational programs that include the development of mind, body, spirit and emotions. We see our work as the beginning of a multi-generational movement whose leaders are empowered to preserve cultural beauty and diversity and to embrace personal responsibility in a global context.

Programs

We have 4 main programs up and running since 2010: The Kindergarten Program provides each child with: A safe environment in which to be a child; Two meals and one snack per day; A bath and a clean change of clothing; The opportunity to play, socialize and learn. The average child in Guatemala rarely has access to these possibilities. We currently have 14 children attending this first kindergarten. We fund food, clothing, hygiene products, toys, a salary, furnishings, and each of their families receive a monthly food basket. The Integral Education Program is designed to change culture from the inside out. We are doing this, not by teaching the kids what to think, but how to think. Integral Theory teaches individual competency and social skills, and encourages taking responsibility, not only for the self but also for other people. Curriculum includes Big Mind, Comparative Religions, Meditation, Lucid Dreaming, Values, Intentions, Decision-making, The Big Bang and Sex Education. The Person-to-Person Sponsorship Program allows a child to attend school. This keeps them off the streets and in an environment where learning, love and potential replace the lure of doing nothing, menial labor or even a life as a gang member. We also use sponsorship funds to provide a food basket to each of their families, school supplies and medical attention when required. We select beneficiary families and individuals in co-operation with our local partner organizations. Home Solar Lighting: Our portable units provide light so that our students can study and so their parents can work after dark (6pm year-round). They replace costly and dangerous candles and provide a new measure of security in the home. Estimates place the number of homes in Guatemala without power somewhere around 500,000, that's millions of people in the dark after sundown. And, most of these people have no light and not much hope of getting access to the national grid.
