We wish you A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013.
I am very pleased to report that, thanks to your generosity, we had a successful year. A year full of laughs, play, learning, joy, gratitude and love. A year in which we consolidated as an Early Education Center, we got close to families and the community in general. A year in which our children participated in many and varied activities of emotional, intellectual, and physical development in an environment of constant learning and fun.
Many mothers began to work, collaborating with the family economy, and many parents were also encouraged to consult our psychologist and began a treatment with her. They ensure that the work of Yachay Wasi has been of great help in their homes.
We are very happy with the results obtained in 2012 and we wish that 2013 is even better.
By donating to this project you have helped many of Ollantaytambo children to receive good quality early-education and care, and welfare for their families.
On behalf of our staff and all the children and families benefiting from your support, thank you and have a GREAT 2013!!!

Hello, I am writing to thank you for supporting the Yachay Wasi Project, and to tell you about the good work you have funded in the past three months.
In the past three months we´ve done lots of things. We could finally finish our stairs and balcony for the second floor, and we made a slide and a little house for the children. They are happy playing there every morning. We also improved our green area, we are growing vegetables and planting some medicinal plants in our Tierra de Niños, so that the children can learn to take care of the earth and families learn to eat healthy.
Our local teachers received professional training from an expert in early education and psycomotor activity, and received some good material to keep on learning. We´ll have another training soon.
Our psychologist Ana organized two "Escuela de Padres" where we talked about "First Aids for Children" and "How to put limits to our children", as part of a work of autoesteem for the parents. They showed very interested on this topics, and we'll continue working with parents across the year.
45 children attend the day care center every day. They have learned a lot of things since they arrived. Through play, they learn mathematical and language concepts and other languages such as English and Quechua. The littlest ones love to explore and play with water, sand and different materials. Children also attend to various workshops such as computing, art, body-expression, gardening, music, which helps them develop their creativity. They´ve created wonderful things.
The most important is that all the children have learned to share, to play toghether, to help others, to listen and respect others and nature. They are connecting with nature, taking care of it and loving it. Now we have the feeling of a big family.
Thanks for your support! We still need your help to keep on growing and improving this happy place.

Happy New Year 2012!!!
We started our new scholar year full of energy and with a lot of new ideas to improve our day care center and kindergarten.
As the only institutional education in Ollantaytambo for children aged between 0 – 3 years old, this year we had more families subscribing their daughters and sons, and for that reason we want to try the best to give a quality education to our children.
Thanks to Awamaki Organization, we had a donation of a laptop, so we can improve our administration skills, and that allows us to show interesting movies and documentaries to our kids.
They come now with a music teacher every Wednesdays for the kids between 3 – 5 years old, and with a volunteer to help us every afternoons, so the kids can stay with us from 8:30 am to 5 pm, so their mothers can go to work.
Every Fridays they come with volunteers and 5 laptops, to initiate the children with computer classes.
We have a project that we started last year, called “ Tierra de Niños”. It consists on a space at the school, where the kids can start an organic farm by their own, where every kid as their own piece of “land” to grow whatever they want, and in a larger impact, they can eat what they plant. Next to it they also build a space where they can put all the bugs they find. This project was designed by Peruvians through an association called “ El mundo de Ania”, in order to get the kids sensitive for an environmental education.
A volunteer from SVE ( Volunteering European Service ) with an environmental and educational skills, its helping us out to plan this project on a better and efficient way.
For the first time, we have an psychologist , volunteer as well, that is going to stay with us the rest of the year, receiving the families , in order to prevent and sensibilize them for the alcoholic, child gender abuse, child labor, and women discrimination problems so common in this town.
In order to bring back the old Inca heritage and its own traditions, we give now quechua lessons ( the incas language ), with one of the local teachers.
Most of the kids we have come from really low resources and as each family pays monthly what they can, we are looking for sponsors for most of our kids.We will keep you updated for you to meet our kids soon!!
March was a good month, but even like that we still have a lot of work to do from now on, and to figure it out, on how to maintain financially, and self – sustainable as well, our space.
Thanks to all the ones, that came all this way long with us. Friends, families, friends from friends, and social medica contact networks, thanks once more to all of you, who believes in the Yachay Wasi project, in Ollantaytambo at the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
We are open to your suggestions and opinions!!!
Feel free to visit our website, that we are looking for to improve it.
You can visit us on Facebook, and Twitter as well.
