IBJ is working to promote rule of law from all angles. Aside from providing defense counsel to vulnerable populations, we collaborate with police to implement protections for ordinary people facing prosecution.
 
Indefinite Detention


Burundian prisons are overcrowded, disease-ridden, and dangerous places. This is especially true for women and children, who - detained alongside men - are often the victims of rape and battery.
