Project Needs and Beneficiaries

In response to increased tensions in the break away republic of South Ossetia between separatists and the Georgian military, the Russian military intervened, entering South Ossetia and Abkhazia and pushing deep into Georgian territory. Approximately 53,000 people have been displaced in Georgia and another 30,000 have moved into Russia. Current needs include preventing potential food shortage and providing clothing, medical supplies, and working to rebuild destroyed infrastructure.

Activities
CHF’s will address immediate needs especially in shelter while looking for ways to help the population restart their livelihoods as quickly as possible.
Expected Outcomes
The quality of response at the beginning of a displacement crisis is critical to the longer-term well being of the affected populations. CHF’s interventions will provide a foundation for affected families to recover from the crisis.
Project Message
"CHF International has been working with communities throughout Georgia since 2004. With a this established nationwide presence, we are moving quickly assess and meet the needs of those affected."
