We empower a diverse perspective-changing movement mapping local natural, social and cultural resources in cities, villages and neighborhoods in over 60 countries. Developing local sustainability networks since 1995, Green Map System expands the demand for healthy, green choices with our adaptable, experiential and interactive mapmaking resources and universal icons, multilingual websites, workshops and regional hubs.

GreenMap.org has expanded to include the Open Green Map, our social mapping platform. There are over 250 locally charted maps and about 20,000 sites that can be illustrated, updated and rated by the public. The Open Green Map can be embedded in other websites and explored with any smartphone. This resource has won several international awards. Overall, find 9 languages in our interface. As we have expanded to reach nearly 800 diverse communities, GreenMap.org showcases our local partners, their Green Maps, motivations, methodologies and outcomes. All our adaptable mapmaking tools (see Resources) and globally designed iconography (see GreenMap.org/icons) are continually being updated. To pilot new concepts and benefit our home community, we also create local NYC Green Maps.
