Lack of skills leading to gainful employment among urban marginalized youth in Laos represents a high risk for young people to end up on the streets or adopt harmful behaviors, pertpetuating the cycle of poverty. By providing professional hospitality training and subsequent job placement servcies, the chances for youth to improve their lives increases considerably without creating dependency on program support in the long term. They will then be able to find jobs and earn income.

Young people come to Makphet the Restaurant and they flourish – they learn, they are inspired, they set future goals and become role models to other young people. This is why I love my work.
