Project Needs and Beneficiaries

In order to give a voice to the people of Mhaswad area, Mann Deshi created a community radio, Mann Deshi Tarang. This gives the 18,000 people of Mhaswad area a chance to be heard. Young people and elders will be given the opportunity to exchange their points of view and talk about their experiences. Mann Deshi Tarang’s mission is to provide the people of Mhaswad with a platform to voice concerns, express creativity, promote development, preserve their culture, and communicate with one another.

Activities
The community radio station broadcasts for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening; the broadcast includes targeted programs for women, children, youth, and farmers, with different important topics.
Expected Outcomes
People in the rural areas of India are often left behind by conventional media platforms. This community radio program will be by the people, for the people and is an ideal way to promote social economy, cultural development, agriculture & education.
Project Message
By fostering direct participation, the radio will expand the reach of voice and concern of the community and enable to change its economical and social life.

Organization's Mission

The organization seeks to improve the quality of life of women and their families living in the rural areas of Maharashtra. Our primary objective is to empower rural women and fight injustices based on gender, caste and class. Our programs are designed to improve our clients' quality of life by promoting education, health, property rights, leadership and technology.

Organization's Programs

Mann Deshi Foundation (MDF) is a central-registered NGO. Mann Deshi Foundation's mission is to promote the development of poor and vulnerable women and their families in Maharashtra and Karnataka by providing business skills and management training, knowledge on property rights, leadership and personality development, and adoption of new technology.

Rekha has been with Mann Vikas since 1999. Before working here she was a librarian for the Rotary Club. Outside of work, Rekha is skilled in both arts and sports. She has taken courses in rangoli and mehendi and played for her university track team.
