Project's focus area: increasing access to essential drugs and basic health care in the developing world
Project Needs and Beneficiaries

On average, 25,000 people die every day in developing countries for want of basic medicines that cost less than a cup of coffee. Treatable and preventable diseases claiming the most lives are malaria, respiratory infections, diarrhea, and tuberculosis. CFWshops targets villages in rural Kenya with inadequate access to essential medicines, underserved by the existing public and private health infrastructure. An adopted clinic can serve 5 to 10 thousand people each year.

Activities
Each clinic enables treatment and prevention of malaria, respiratory infections, worms, amoebiasis, and diarrhea. Adoption supports monthly deliveries of medicines and preventatives, ongoing training for franchisees, community outreach, and more.
Expected Outcomes
In 2007 the CFWshops network served over 500,000 patients and customers. As a franchise network, CFWshops will continue to grow in Kenya, eventually reaching millions of people per year with lifesaving medicines and diseases prevention.
Project Message
"The CFWshops will go a long way to narrow the gaps currently existing in delivery of health services in the District."
- Dr. E. Maree, Ministry of Health, Kirinyaga District, Kenya
