Do you feel passionately about the social entrepreneurship and international development sectors? Are you looking for a challenging work experience? GlobalGiving connects social entrepreneurs and grassroots organizations with individuals, corporations, and institutions that have an interest in supporting and fueling significant social impact. Since 2002, GlobalGiving has helped non-profits and social entrepreneurs in 120 countries grow their communities of donors and volunteers to raise nearly $75 million from more than 290,000 individual and corporate donors.
As a GlobalGiving Intern, you will gain a rich educational experience. Because GlobalGiving sits at the intersection of the corporate, foundation, and NGO worlds, your internship will give you exposure to all three sectors and provide ample opportunity to learn about on-the-ground development work. Your work will be in support of our partner acquisition efforts, namely our Program and Business Partnerships teams.
Possible tasks and learning objectives include:
In addition to the hands-on learning you will gain from the tasks above, you will also benefit from a week-long training program on nonprofit operations, international aid and philanthropy. This training will be supplemented by regular coaching from management and mentorship opportunities with senior leadership. Such opportunities include lunch with the Founder and President, a brown bag career development session led by the CEO of The Whittle Group, and an opportunity to present and receive input from the Executive team on your college or grad-level thesis. You may also use your internship opportunity to learn one of 24 foreign languages at your own pace and for free. And the list goes on...Required Qualifications:
You're probably wondering...what's the catch? The answer is: nothing. We just ask that you come hungry for a great experience, ready to learn and to grow. Strong preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate solid analytical skills, superior time management and multi-tasking ability, great attention to detail with uncompromising quality of work, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Oh, and we also want you to feel as passionately as we do about our mission. Recent college graduates and students currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, international studies, or related fields are encouraged to apply. How to apply:
If all this has sparked your interest, please send a cover letter and resume, including your hours of availability (e.g. 25 hours per week) to firstname.lastname@example.org. Since this is a general description for all GlobalGiving unpaid internships, please also indicate if you have a specific area of skill and interest (Business Partnerships vs. Programs) in your cover letter as well. Applications for the Spring (late January - late May) class will be accepted through January 16, 2013.
