GlobalGiving Internship (Unpaid)

Do you feel passionately about the social entrepreneurship and international development sectors? Are you looking for a challenging work experience? GlobalGiving connects social entrepreneurs and grassroots organizations with individuals, corporations, and institutions that have an interest in supporting and fueling significant social impact. Since 2002, GlobalGiving has raised more than $86,797,863 from over 328,273 donors who have supported more than 8,069 projects.

As a GlobalGiving Intern, you will gain a rich educational experience. Because GlobalGiving sits at the intersection of the corporate, foundation, and NGO worlds, your internship will give you exposure to all three sectors and provide ample opportunity to learn about on-the-ground development work. Your work will be in support of our partner acquisition efforts, namely our Program and Business Partnerships teams.

Possible tasks and learning objectives include:

  • Utilize skills and knowledge to review and analyze due diligence materials, project proposals, and reports from organizations currently represented on or interested in joining the GlobalGiving platform
  • Learn how to leverage networks and tools to help social entrepreneurs promote their projects
  • Draft effective marketing materials and proposals that will facilitate outreach and partner acquisition
  • Learn Salesforce software as a customer relationship management tool by updating contacts, preparing reports and creating presentations on business partner performance for management review
  • Work with diverse populations in cross-cultural or multi-cultural settings by communicating with partner organizations and obtaining feedback from third parties and beneficiaries
  • Participate in departmental strategic planning discussions to learn how non-profits think about balancing growth with sustainability
  • Suggest new metrics and data points GlobalGiving could consider collecting to better analyze its own performance and the impact organizations are having on its platform
  • Other tasks as requested by management

In addition to the hands-on learning you will gain from the tasks above, you will also benefit from a week-long training program on nonprofit operations, international aid and philanthropy. This training will be supplemented by regular coaching from management and mentorship opportunities with senior leadership. Such opportunities include lunch with the Founder and President, a brown bag career development session led by the CEO of The Whittle Group, and an opportunity to present and receive input from the Executive team on your college or grad-level thesis. You may also use your internship opportunity to learn one of 24 foreign languages at your own pace and for free. And the list goes on…
