About GlobalGiving: GlobalGiving connects organizations from all over the world with donors who can support their work. GlobalGiving's non-profit partners address issues in education, health, women's empowerment, microfinance, environmental sustainability and more.
GlobalGiving is looking for a passionate, motivated, and enthusiastic individual to travel throughout Southeast Asia for at least 6 months in Spring 2014 to:
As a participant in GlobalGiving's In-the-Field Program, you will have the opportunity to meet change makers throughout the region who provide critical healthcare to rural communities, rescue girls and young women from sex trafficking, develop solar energy technologies, and more! You will act as representatives of GlobalGiving, conducting thorough site visits of GlobalGiving's partner organizations, ranging in size, capacity, and focus. You will work closely with local organizations and to identify potential for improvement in areas such as fundraising.
You will have the chance to help us spread the word about GlobalGiving in Southeast Asia by reaching out to organizations and organizing informational workshops about online fundraising and GlobalGiving.
In addition to seeing world-changing work, the In-the-Field Program also gives you the flexibility to see the sites! Take a day or two (or five) off to see Angkor Wat, go snorkeling off the Thai coast, or feed an elephant. Your trip is in your hands.
Selected interns will participate in mandatory 4-week training in January and February at GlobalGiving's office in Washington, DC, where you will learn how to: conduct site visits and evaluations; analyze partners' online fundraising and areas of improvement; recognize potential for collaboration; and more. You will work closely with GlobalGiving's DC staff in preparation for your trip, planning site visits, workshops, travel, and accommodations, while gaining skills in organization and cross-cultural understanding.
Upon returning to the U.S., you will present your findings and experience to the GlobalGiving staff.
This position is unpaid and program participants are expected to fund their entire trip including on-ground travel and accommodations.
GlobalGiving will reimburse expenses for flights to and from the region for up to $1,500 and offer reimbursement for travel medical insurance up to $400. GlobalGiving will also provide a small stipend for reimbursable travel and communications expenses up to $1,750, in addition to training, office support, and workshop funding. In-the-Field interns may be invited to extend their work with GlobalGiving as a paid office intern following their six months in the field.
