Spiwe Chakawa

Spiwe Chakawa - Zimbabwe

Spiwe Chakawa is a GlobalGiving Ambassador for Zimbabwe and the Director for Chiedza Child Care Centre. Chiedza Child Care Centre (Chiedza) is a community based charity organization based in one of the high density suburbs of Harare. Chiedza works with vulnerable children below the age of 18 providing holistic services including education, health, nutrition, child protection, livelihoods programs, life skills for youth, early childhood education, sexual reproductive health rights education, child rights education, clothing and a range of psychosocial support services.

Spiwe is a passionate development practitioner who after graduating from college started working for non-profit organizations; including HelpAge Zimbabwe as a District Coordinator for a food aid program in 2003. In 2004 she joined Child Protection Society, a local child focused NGO in Zimbabwe where she mainly focused on policy advocacy, capacity building and working with the government Department of Social Services to strengthen the implementation of local policies governing children's rights such as the Orphan Care Policy and the Children's Act. In her role as a Program Manager at Child Protection Society, it was also instrumental in participating in national level platforms which focused on improving children's rights such as the National Steering Committee for Children on the Move and The National Steering Committee on the Victim Friendly Court System. Spiwe joined Chiedza in July 2014 as the director.

In her role as an Ambassador, she aims to ensure that Zimbabwean organizations understand the importance of online fundraising and the inevitable power of Social Media in Development work. She will do this through public workshops and utilizing existing platforms for non-profit organizations in Zimbabwe. She will also provide support to organizations already utilizing the GlobalGiving Online Fundraising. Spiwe is a holder of Bsc Hon in Psychology (University of Zimbabwe) and a Msc. in Development Studies (National University of Science and Technology, Zimbabwe).

Hripsime (Sime) Amirkhanyan

Hripsime (Sime) Amirkhanyan - Armenia

Hripsime (Sime) is GlobalGiving Ambassador for Armenia and a program consultant for HasNa Inc., a U.S. based non-profit designing and implementing conflict resolution and peacebuilding projects, mostly with partners from Turkey, Armenia and Cyprus.

Hripsime brings many years of working experience with different international organizations (humanitarian and development) leading various projects to support the disadvantaged groups of people such as refugees, socially vulnerable families, children, and unemployed. She has started her career with UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), then continued with IFAD (International Fund for Agriculture Development), UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), UN WFP (United Nations World Food Programme), Project Harmony International, followed by CHF International Armenia/USAID (Cooperative Housing Foundation, currently Global Communities).

Starting from 2005 Hripsime also volunteers for the European Union programs' team developing and implementing youth projects with partner organizations from the UK, Spain, Malta, Poland, Germany, and other partner countries. For the resent two years Hripsime is also one of the judges for the initial phase of the projects submitted for the Global Social Venture Competition in Berkley, CA.

Lavanya Madhyanam

Lavanya Madhyanam - Mumbai, India

Lavanya works with the National Development Team at Teach For India in Mumbai. Prior to this, she was working as an intern with Teach For India and later joined them full-time in Hyderabad. Teach For India is a nationwide movement that aims to bridge the educational gap in India by placing promising college graduates and professionals in under-resourced schools to teach full-time for two years through the fellowship program. The organization's long-term mission is to build a movement of leaders who will eliminate inequity in education. Teach For India has operations in 6 cities currently.

She is very passionate about working in the field of education, and she believes that every child deserves quality education. She has been a part of several campaigns at Teach For India that spread more awareness about the cause of education. As a part of GlobalGiving Ambassador, she would like to help other organizations leverage their networks better to raise funds online through GlobalGiving.
